Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for North Natomas Little League. To get started, jump to one of the links below:

How Do I Become a Volunteer?

Step 1: Check your volunteer status from last season

Please review the 2016 Approved Volunteers List to see if you are already on the list. If your name appears on the 2016 list, go to Step 2. If your name is not on the 2016 list, go to Step 3.

Step 2: Submit a 'Returning Volunteers' application

If your name appears on the 2016 Approved Volunteers List, you can CLICK HERE to complete a 'returning' volunteer application and background check.

Step 3: Submit a 'New Volunteers' application

If your name does not appear on the 2016 Approved Volunteers List, you must CLICK HERE to complete a 'new' volunteer application and background check.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL volunteer applications must be submitted via our secure, 256-bit encrypted SSL form service [What is SSL?]. This means no more paper applications with your Social Security Number or driver's license going through various hands. It also means we will be able to process your background check much faster.

Why Volunteer?

North Natomas Little Little League is an organization designed to build good citizens. It is a program of leadership, preparing today's youth to be tomorrow's leaders. North Natomas Little League relies on a devoted legion of adult volunteers to help ensure that our organization remains structured and runs smoothly. We are always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate Little League events and activities. As a volunteer, you should have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children. By reading further, you will discover that the benefits of volunteering are endless. You will also gain a better understanding of why you should become involved, who volunteers are, what you can do, and how you can sign up. [Back to top]

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone can apply to become a volunteer. Whatever talents or skills you have, we can use them! Volunteers are grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, retirees, community leaders, former Little Leaguers, friends, neighbors, and more. Any community member who wishes to become a volunteer may apply.

All parents of children involved in North Natomas Little League are strongly encouraged to volunteer. As a parent, volunteer, you have the opportunity to spend quality time with your child in a safe, fun-filled environment. Oftentimes, parent and child social lives parallel each other. Volunteering allows your life and your child's life to intersect on common ground, with shared interests and goals.

On rare occasions, Little League, through District Administrators and your local Board of Directors, may deny individuals the privilege of volunteering for reasons, past or present, that may be detrimental to the positive development of young people, other volunteers, and/or Little League International. When you apply to become a volunteer, you give North Natomas Little League the right to conduct necessary background checks. [Back to top]

What Can I Volunteer To Do?

No experience is required to become a volunteer. Most of our volunteer opportunities require little or no training. North Natomas Little League will provide you with any necessary training (as well as support and encouragement). The best volunteers are those who are able to bring added enjoyment to the game simply be being themselves. What you see during Little League games is a mere fraction of what you can do as a volunteer. You can volunteer to help in virtually any aspect of Little League Baseball or Softball (click here for a few position descriptions.) [Back to top]

Background Checks for All Volunteers

North Natomas Little League takes child safety very seriously. For this reason, we partner with First Advantage to conduct nationwide background checks (through the U.S. Department of Justice) on all managers, coaches, team parents, umpires, snack bar helpers, board members and any other persons or volunteers who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams. Little League International requires that all volunteers complete and submit a new background check each calendar year. (See Little League minimum requirements here.) Anyone refusing to submit a volunteer application is ineligible to be a league volunteer. [Back to top]

Social Security Number and Other Required Documents for Background Checks

For volunteers who were not approved in 2016, a Social Security number is required on the secure, online volunteer application form. Additionally, a copy of a government-issued photo identification card, such as a driver’s license, must be submitted with the background check. The league Safety Officer is responsible for retaining these confidential forms for the current year of service only. For volunteers who appear on the 2016 approved volunteer list, these documents are not required to be submitted for the current season. [Back to top]

How Much Will the Background Check Cost Me?
